Abstract

For this project I focused on improving quality assurance by using bugs while working as a CRM Administrator and developer. I applied the focus to the custom-built software created for facilitating the licensing tasks on the IP Licensing Team at Microsoft, through TekSystems. As software issues and feature requests were submitted through a ticketing system for these software applications, I reviewed the tickets and implemented additional tasks to improve the quality of these applications. As quality assurance is typically something focused on during the development process of a software system, it was unique to try and ensure quality assurance during the maintenance section of a software system life cycle. The tasks of the software were so diverse, there were several tools that had to accomplish several objectives and therefore, a wide range of software tools were used such as C Sharp, ASPX Web development and SQL. If not for several courses I completed during the pursuit of my Computer Science and Software Engineering degree, much of these tools would have been beyond my ability to understand and improve. While dedicating large amounts of time to researching how the tools worked and writing code to improve them, I gained a better understanding of integrated software systems, improved my coding skills and feel more confident in my role as a developer.
