Abstract: In Summer of 2020 I spent 10 weeks working as a Full-Stack Developer Intern at Avanade. This was a virtual internship, and during my time there I participated in workshops, events, tech talks, and training with fellow interns. I worked in Productivity Studio whose primary clients are Microsoft and worked on projects for solutions that would improve productivity. The projects I worked on surrounds Microsoft Teams, and the capabilities as well as the limitations of the platform. The projects were called Collaboration Architecture and a Timer Custom Application. I explored and created tangible artifacts for results by utilizing technology to enhance the workspace within Microsoft Teams. I worked on improving processes, used different technologies and frameworks to achieve functional proof of concepts, and presented and provided recommendations for maintenance and direction for future work. In Collaboration Architecture, I was able to apply my knowledge to optimize processes through diagramming and design thinking for implementation. I was able to experiment with different technologies such as the Teams, SharePoint, and integrating other apps such as Azure DevOps. In the Timer Application I was able to get under the hood and explore possibilities for custom development, testing with Power Automate (Flow), adaptive cards, bot framework, Microsoft Graph API, as well as C# and Node.js. The projects resulted in successfully presenting proof of concepts with tangible and practical artifacts, where future work in these areas are streamlined and easy to build off of.By working at Avanade, I learned and grew in many aspects of my professional career. I experienced what it is like working in an agile environment and I collaborated closely with project leads and technical architects to deliver products within the set of requirements. I gained a breadth of knowledge in many sectors from meeting with stakeholders to recognize the total lifecycle of a project. Given this opportunity, which have been executed through good mentorship and obtained resources, I also realize and have practiced the important soft skills such as communication, organization, adapting to change, and being bold.
