"AWS Query Infrastructure Improvement"

Abstract

For summer 2020, I have completed the replacement of the previous service with AWS Redshift at the software infrastructure team within Amazon AWS. My primary task was to fix a scale issue caused by a fault in our query engine, and to enable additional functionality by replacing the faulty service. Through a combination of Design Up Front and Agile TDD, I produced a product able to scale to >16 times the service I was tasked to replace while providing both for our use case and allowing additional functionality. The project and my success in it has helped to illustrate how the theory and skills I obtained from college translate to the workforce, and I'm excited to see where it takes me.
